For the girls who have everything~*

I still can't believe it is November ALREADY!!!! It seems like as soon as we hit October, time just flies by like a jet plane. Thanksgiving is only TWO weeks away and Christmas will be here before we know it. It is crazyyyyyy. Christmas shopping can be fun but stressful at the same time, especially when you don't know what to buy and what the person likes. My goal is to be more creative and productive this year. With that said, I will try to avoid"gift card" in every possible way. My husband said it is not a very thoughtful gift but hey I gotta 'LOVE' those awesome gift cards. They are the gifts of imagination. You can imagine what to buy, right?

Do you have at least one person in your family whom you find challenging to buy a gift for? As for my family, it is not just one but TWO. My two sisters-in-law are the girls who have everything - the look, the wealth, the style and etc. One is in her early 20's and another one is in her mid 20's. Both girls have great sense of style so I wouldn't risk buying clothes, accessories, handbag or anything in that arena for them. My husband and I always give them different gift cards on birthday and Christmas simply because we couldn't think of anything. Period.

I don't know about you but there are certain things I will not buy for other people unless I know them really really well. Home decor is a big NO-NO for me. From my personal experience/preference, I do not like people buying furniture or home decor items for my house unless they know exactly what pieces I want. My sweet and thoughtful mother-in-law bought me two wall arts in bamboo design when my husband and I moved into our new home few years ago. For some reason, people associate bamboo with Asian and for my in-law that was the case. Even though she said it would not hurt her feeling if I didn't like them and decided to return them, how in the world can I do that? I love modern/contemporary decoration and those wall arts are not something I fond of but they have their spots on my wall for a few years now.

My husband even said I am very hard to please and to surprise (OUCH!) It is harsh but so true. This is why I especially love gift cards because they give me a freedom to choose whateve and whenever I feel like. So this year I will put more "thought" into the gifts. Since the girls pretty much have everything in terms of materials, some sentimental and handmade gifts may not be a bad idea after all. Etsy.com is also a good back-up plan in case I don't know what to make.

I had been using my summer purse for so long. As a matter of fact, I used it in Spring, Summer and Fall. I mean it is ridiculous because the design of that purse is totally summer but I was still carrying it around until last weekend. Thank god, I overcame my procrasination and decided to clean my filthy purse and transferred my junk into a new bag. It was about time.

I love love love big bag due to the amount of itmes (craps/junks) I carry around. I can't see myself carrying a small bag at all, that would feel wired and imcomplete. My husband called them "black holes" because once you dip your hand in there to find something, it will take a while to find what you are looking for. With this bag though, I am glad it has a few slots inside which I can put my keys, phone and other small items in them. And the best part, the inside is fushia while the outside is black. Very sassy.

  1. Chic classic bags with bolder/patterned interiors are the cutest! My type of bags :D I know what you mean about presents.. I try to buy very universally useful things for people when I don't know them well enough to know what they like/need. And when I receive gifts that don't quite suit me, I remind myself that I'm lucky to even be gifted and that the thought is what counts! Have a lovely week Nelah :)

I actually wrote a post about it around the holidays last year lol Etsy is a good back-up plan:) They always have such cool stuff! You and me both, Nelah...I'm a fan of big bags. I guess I just carry my life in my purse hehe I'm trying to downsize but it's so difficult!:)

  4. What a cute bag! I like big bags as well. I already started thinking about Christmas gifts for everyone in my family. I find the most challenging to buy a gift for is my Mom (for the same reason). She is a type of person that would go out and get things that she likes. Other than that, everyone else in my family is pretty easy to buy gift for. I also don't keep anything that I don't like. There are no reasons to keep things that you don't like around. I'll return them all no matters where they were coming from :)

  5. I started Christmas shopping already for a secret santa thing that Jessy put together...it is so hard to find gifts even for bloggers you follow everyday. I think I am just horrible at it...I like gift cards too and never wince when family members give me cash for my birthday. I guess I like the freedom of choosing my own present since I know myself better than most. I agree with you on home decor though and I am like you in that I can't bring myself to criticize gifts that other people got for me...

Love your big bag, I have one too that my bf shakes his head in disbelief at.

  6. I have a few people who are difficult to shop for. I know that gift cards feel impersonal to give, but they are SO much fun to get! What if you find a creative way to present them? Maybe bake some cookies and lay the gift card on top or something like that? Yes, I'm all about the food. :)

Have you seen any of the bag organizers out there? My {ex} husband got one for me for mother's day this year and it's FABULOUS. Try this one: http://www.pursetogo.net/

  8. Oooh buying gifts is SO hard!! And when it's hard it feels like a chore instead of fun. I always have to plan a year in advance for x-mas, bday, mother's day, father's day, etc.

Cute purse! Love that it has a shoulder strap too!

  9. I totally hear you on the bamboo art lol! My boyfriend loves those "Asian" paintings and I can't stand them. To date, our walls are currently bare because we can't come to an agreement!

Call me lazy, but I'm a gift card giver too haha. I also love receiving them, so I find it hard to understand why others have a problem with it.

  11. Adorable bag...sassy is the right word for it. And oh, who doesn't love receiving gift cards? I think it's a great option for your sister in laws who have everything. Reminds me how my dear grandparents insist on giving me gifts every year that are almost guaranteed to become clutter (teapot sets, canned foods, odd gadgets) then one year they surprisingly decided to give money instead. I didn't want to accept it...but hey they insisted : )

  13. Lol... I wish it wasn't considered bad form to give/receive money haha. I still prefer getting $$ from my relatives rather than odds/ends that I usually don't need and will have to find a place for. And I love that one of the nice things about having an Asian wedding is that people give money (that you can use to pay for the wedding), instead of gifts (regardless of the price) that I don't necessarily need!
