La Mer: The Treatment Fluid Foundation Review

Cee - Hoooraaaay...you are the winner of my La Mer Samples Giveaway!!!. Congrats girlie!, please send me your address to narakista (at) gmail (dot) com :). Thank you everyone for entering, I wish I had enough samples to share with each of you.

I do not use foundation everyday, not because I have such flawless skin but I hate the heavy feel and stickiness of liquid foundation so I try to avoid it at all causes. Mineral powder used to be a great alternative until my skin became dry beyond cure, the application of mineral powder only made the situation worse. Sad enough I had to say bye-bye to "Everyday Minerals" which were so affordable and worked for me in the past. I once ventured into trying drugstore and name brand foundations like Maybelline and Korres but a problem I had with drugstore foundation was that I couldn't get the right shade so I gave up.

I took these photos under different lighting (1st pic with more light exposure and 2nd pic with less light source - no magic of photoshop guaranteed)

Every girl probably has once owned or tried MAC products. I walked past that counter for a million time and finally gave in and gave it a try last year. It was nice to have a MUA assisted with shade matching and demonstrating how to apply foundation like a pro. I got my first tube of MAC Studio Sculpt in NC20 and had been using since then. It is more lightweight and easuer to blend than other foundations I found previously. I wouldn't say that I totally head over heel because it feels sticky on my skin (and I have dry skin). I was ready to go back to mineral powder until I got a foundation sample from La Mer counter during my last purchase. The Treatment Fluid Foundation in Porcelain (Boy - I never realized I am that fair because the La Mer SA said it is the lightest shade they have available, my husband always says I need to get more sun exposure lol). I have never thought about trying La Mer Skincolor line due to its crazy price...come on.....this 1 fl. oz. foundation costs $85!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! However, it lives up to its high price and I like it (a lot). It is super lightweight and blends into skin flawlessly. The best part..I can NOT feel that I am wear a foundation at all but it still gives medium coverage. Now I am curious about thir concealer and powder!! However, $85 for a foundation is a lot of money plus I do not wear foundation on a daily basis. I would like to at least try Revlon Photo Ready and Chanel foundation before I jump the gun.

Disclaimer: I received a free foundation sample with my Creme de la Mer purchase and am NOT paid to do this review.

On a seperate note, a fellow blogger "Squeeze the Pug" is hosting what I call "a giveway of this century" because she is giving away a collection of Chanel skincare/cosmetics (I hope I win!!).

  1. ohh i agree with you that the mineral powder is better for normal skin. that tends to look not as good with dry or oily skin.

i have tried the la mer foundation and wore it for awhile. it's great for the winter time when my skin is drier and provides really nice coverage. my skin gets really oily now so i have switched back to bobbi brown. im running out of that and am thinking about swtiching to dior.

  2. I never tried any foundation so I am clueless in that area. I am using this Korean powder that supposedly is what actors there use...its called Palagantong? Cheap but has to be applied with bare face otherwise its a blotchy mess.

  3. Oh my gosh it's $85?! *faint*
But on a lighter note the shade looks like a good match for you and makes your skin look flawless!

Hmm I've been using Everyday Minerals for two years but recently I'm using liquid foundation or BB cream more b/c my skin is getting dry too :\

  4. I have the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. ^_^ You might also want to try Lunasol's Aqua foundation. Both brands are good but your FOTD looks gorgeous, I say go for it! LOL! x)

  5. Ouch... that is pretty pricey for foundation! I actually don't even own any foundation except for some samples from Bare Minerals. Problem is I mainly shop online and for foundation, I really need to go get shade-matched... but which one to pick?? Thanks for sharing, I guess if you don't wear it everyday then that 1 oz might last you for a little longer if you do decide to splurge!

  7. Me too, I only ever wear foundation on school days or when I'm going to a special occasion, but not on weekends.
Thank you for your comment! :)
I'm interested in photography, so knowing that my photos are actually good is really great!

  9. The mac and La mer look so similar on the photo. But frankly, your skin is so smooth to start with anyway. Im admiring your cute floral earrings.

  10. Woohoo! I'm beyond excited. My oily face is even more excited to try out the samples. Thank you so much, Nelah!

Hmm... I'm certainly no makeup/foundation expert, but it looks like Mac's blend in with your skin tone better? It's interesting because that one started out as the darker shade.

  11. Thanks for the review, Nelah. You look beautiful. You're so lucky that you don't use foundation every day. Your skin is flawless. I am looking into the Cream La Mer that you reviewed recently. It's just too expensive for me to pull the triggers.

  13. Nelah, your skin looks beautiful!

I do believe it's available to you but Vasanti makes a really nice lightweight foundation called liquid coverup. It's a Canadian company. I did a review of it on my beauty blog and there is a link there to the company's website. The $23 CDN price tag is a big more affordable! Might be worth a try!
