Retail Therapy: Part II - What's in that bag?

Thank you you ladies so much for your input on the bag, every opinion counts and I truly appreciate you all fortaking the time to help me make a decision. I never did like Chanel because I didn't see anything special about it other than knowing that their line is ridiculously expensive until these two lovely ladies came along. Squeeze the Pug and ReallyPetite are the two ladies whom got me in the Chanel groove, their collections of Chanel bags are quite exquisite (check them out :)) At this point, I think (once again) that I know which one to go for but that can change every five minutes. I am going to take the time to think about it a little longer because obviously it is a huge amount of money. The more I think about what I can do with that money, the less I want it..haha.

After spending (a.k.a. wasting, per my husband) a considrable amount of time in Dior and Chanel Boutiques, it's time to eat. I am so glad we live about an hour away from this shopping mall. It truly is a place that can drain your wallet in no time with stores like Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstorm, Macy's and other gazzillion stores inside). For the best part, it has The Cheesecake Factory!!!! So healthy!!!!!!

Another puspose of this trip was to also buy a second jar of Creme de la Mer (you can read my review here). A one ounce jar lasted me about two months and I used it day and night during winter time. Since the weather is not as dry now, I am hoping this jar will last even longer...probably 3 months. From below picture, it may look like I bought the whole line of La Mer but those are my freebies....as a matter of fact I am sure the price of the freebies are already included in the full size products but they make it look like these items are fee so they can fool someone like me lol. Seriously I loved this SA, look at the free stuff she gave me. I came home with 7 samples! My husband only received 2 samples when he went. I got all kind of new stuff to try from eye cream , sunscreen to foundation. It is a little trick they use to indireclty sell me these products in full size on my next visit..I know..I know.

She also gave me two cute little jar of "Gel de la Mer" which is an ultralight edition of the original Crème de la Mer. Its texture is completely different from the creme version so people with combo to oily skin may like this one. As for me, it doesn't provide enough moisture because my skin is extremely dry..only the creme version works. I am doing a mini giveaway of the Gel de la Mer samples for one of my readers that would like to give it try. One small container should provides approximately 5 day supply depending how much you use it. Just leave me a comment that you want a sample, the deadline is Noon on Sunday (4/3/11) - *open within US only*. Note: a winner will get both jars so that should last about 10 days and you may (or may not) notice the difference it does to your skin before buying a full size.

From now, I decided that I will not announce/advertise my future giveaway in the subject line anymore. It is quite interesting to see that some people follow a blog for a giveaway purpose only. I don't think it is fair for my readers who regularly read and are somewhat interested in the post. So if you have enough patience to read up to this line, I salute and thank you for your interest :)

  1. Lol....I try not to add up all my Chanels because then I start to feel sick but then I justify it by saying,"don't I deserve it? I work hard and don't drink, smoke or drugs....I just love Chanel!" LOL

I'm glad u r taking the time to think about it- it's a HUGE decision and a very expensive one and should not be bought on impulse! I think thru all my Chanel purchases way in advance and even # them in order of importance (geeky I know). Try to go to a Chanel boutique and take the time to try on all types and see what make u feel like a million bucks:) stick to the classic's which will never go out of style and will always retain their value.

  2. Nelah! The Cheesecake Factory is so healthy indeed.. ;) ah decadent cheesecake! Hmm Chanel.. I do have mixed feelings about it, not just because of price but also materials used. But then it will be years before I have such spending money :\ Yay for samples!

  3. ReallyPetite: thank you so much for your input..I am totally with you on waiting. I want to make sure this is something I really want and whether I will be happy with it in a long term. Everyone works hard to build their wealth and it is completely fine if they want to spend it. You totally deserve some special treats in your life :) I have a few friends who were born with silver spoons and are now taking over their family's business (large scale business) back in Bangkok. Their lives are so full of stress even though they make tons of money. It gets to the point where they spend their lives making money but hardly have time to enjoy or treat themselves. Sad but true.

Karen: Long time..No see, hope you have been doing great. Up to this point, I still don't know what "caviar" leather is (I don't think it is made from fish skin). I know about the "mixed" feelings that you have considering the fact that you are an animal lover. I hope they don't torture those poor lambs just to get their skins (I was talking to my husband about it yesterday).

  5. Ive been to the CF a couple of times....left almost ALL of my food on the plate....they really do give you a TON. It's not always what they have that's unhealthy, its how MUCH they give you, lol.

  13. I just saw your other post now (I'm a little behind :( ) can't wait to hear about your decision and the cheesecake factory looks AMAZING! Gah we don't have that in Canada and my husband is a healthy eater and doesn't even like desserts (who the HECK did I marry? LOL) so I doubt I will get to go with him!

  14. I have never been to the cheesecake factory. I hate when places give you too much food - it kinda takes away from the taste if you feel stuffed. I think you should think about the bag more since it is an investment...you should love what you get! I would like to try the sample - never tried this brand before. Thank you!

  15. Dear Nelah, Im sure it wasnt time wasted browsing those arm candies with your husband. That is actually very sweet. My husband is always moaning in pain whenever I drag him to look at bags In fact, he now shrivels up like a dead snail at the mention of the word handbag....Erm, I dont think I have that many exquisite collection.

Creme de Lamer. Wow, no wonder your skin looks perfect like porcelain. I read close to the bottom of the page and saw that Giveaway....but damn, too bad Im not in the US. =)

Anyways, I just wanted to take this opportunity to send my warmest gratitude to you. You have been very kind with your words and deeds. This is already twice you have mentioned my page. I am very grateful. Very soon, I will be posting up a Chanel giveaway. Im not sure if you are interested because Im sure Creme de lamer is much better. But if you are, you will get special treatment from my pug. All you have to do is just say enter (no need to jump hoops like the rest).

Once again, thank you...and hope to see you in your new arm candy soon.

    Xoxo,

  17. I think I’m slow in reading this post of yours.
My friends go crazy over cheesecake factory in the States but when I was in New York, I didn’t get to try it out. It wasn’t in the way I supposed.

“It is quite interesting to see that some people follow a blog for a giveaway purpose only. I don't think it is fair for my readers who regularly read and are somewhat interested in the post.”

I totally agree with the above statement. I really appreciate when people take the time to read my words till the very end and from comments, you could definitely tell who’s been reading and who’s been posting a cursory comment for the sake of posting or else then following. I also don’t appreciate if people blatantly ask to return the favour of following too. It’s quite unnerving to think that people are following you in expectation of you following them.

On to Chanel, I've been interested in getting the black classic medium flap in gold hardware for the longest time. Imagine when I was a mere student many years back, I like that "quilted leather bag with gold chains" and did not even know it was a designer bag. It cost about SGD$2+K beack then. Now it's a whooping SGD$4+K. One could learn about appreciation just from Chanel alone. I dunno but I can't seem to be able to bear to part with my 4+k for the bag. 4+k is enough to go on a trip! I made a promise to myself that I would definitely get it when I travel to Europe. I would be able to save a few hundreds! It’s my dream bag and I would make it a reality.

It seems like many people in the blogging world has tried La Mer or swear by it. Maybe I’ve to go give it a try too.

  18. What a great idea for a giveaway, to kind of "hide" it within your post. You're a smart one. :) I have SUPER oily skin and tend to break out a lot, so I'm always terrified to use anything other than my Proactiv stuff, not to mention anything with moisture in it.

I LOVE the Cheesecake Factory! I'm a vegetarian so it's great to find a place that has so many options. Albeit not exactly healthy options, but it's a fun treat every now and then.

It sounds like you had a great shopping trip!

  19. ohh how fun!! i love cheesecake factory :)
i love their yummy cheesecakes and their pasta!!

how fun that you went to look at chanel bags.. but i def wouldn't rush into it.. i love and treasure each and every one of my chanel bags but they are quite expensive.. and def something you should take the time thinking it over and trying them out.. last year i visited the chanel store on average ONCE a week!!! luckily i have a very understanding husband hehehe.

i love la mer!! i use the moisturizing gel as the regular cream de la mer is too rich for me :)
