Miss Dior - an Alternative to Chanel Classic Flap

When Miss Dior bag first came out a while back, I thought "oh dear, yet another flap". Dior is well known for their signature "Lady Dior" bag which of course has been my dream bag for months and years. Chanel also has its very own signature bag which is a classic flap and no one makes it quite like Chanel. Dior bags are just not as popular as Chanel and we all agree that Dior only has a handful of collection when it comes to bags. Honestly, the only bag from Dior that I knew was Lady Dior because their other bags didn't impress me much (except for a Panarea bag). Perhaps they don't promote those bags enough? My first thought when I heard about Miss Dior, I was not sure how Miss Dior can make her way to the top like Chanel flap until I saw her in real life.

I had to admit that it didn't "wow" me when I saw the pictures on the internet but I would like to see it in person if I was in the area. Holy moly, I was blown away when I saw this baby in real life. It is one heck of a gorgeous..gorgeous bag. I am not a flap girl but this bag got me thinking twice. I might as well purchase this instead of a Lady Dior! Calm down, I "didn't" purchase it and I was so proud that I walked out of the store empty handed for the first time. Sure it took a lot will power to fight that evil temptation!

There are a few points I would like to share for someone who are in the market for a flap bag but not sure what ohter choices they have other than Chanel Flap. Miss Dior is my answer. I am going to share some thoughts here based on my personal opinions.


- The look: even though it is a flap bag, it doesn't look like Chanel flap. This bag has a modern touch/look to it yet I can see it becoming a timeless bag or an icon like a Lady Dior. It is very understated and elegant with a modern twist. I LOVE its chain and shiny hardware!

- Weight and Structure: it is not as light as a Chanel m/l but it won't weight your shoulder down. Somehow I feel that Miss Dior is much more structured and thicker (perosnally I feel it is better quality).

- From what the SA told me, there is only one size at the moment. It seems bigger than a Chanel m/l and it has three small pockets plus one long pocket inside. Its interior is DIVINE espeically black with light pink interior. Overall, a practical size.

- There is only one size but two chain lenghts (shorter chain - carrying on shoulder only and longer chain - carrying on shoulder or wearing it as a crossbody). Unfortunately, you can't adjust the chain strap like Chanel flap because it is a single chain. I tried on a shorter chain, it is really nice and not too long - very flattering on a petite lady).

-It has a single flap unlike Chanel has a double flap (I prefer a single flap)

- Leather: lambskin and exotic skins. I personally like the look of lambskin, very plulsh and luxurious.

- Lock: a rectangular lock and it comes with a key (you can actually lock or unlock it).

- Price: $3,100 (same as medium Lady Dior)

Overall, this is a very pretty flap that you should add to your list for consideration. It is so true that Chanel is the mother of flap bags but with everything that is going on with Chanel recently (big price increase and quality issue), I am slowly and quietly grativating towards Dior and other brand. (Dior also has price increase twice per year)

On another note, this bag is seriously haunting me right now!!!!
