Thanksgiving flew by as if it did not even happen – at least that’s how I felt. On that Turkey day, I didn’t even feel like Thanksgiving despite the fact that I stuffed my face with a variety of scrumptious Thanksgiving dishes like there was no tomorrow. So now Christmas is near, I know I have to get myself up to the speed and get in a Christmas mood. My husband knows how lazy and not-so-fun I can be at decorating for holidays.

….Halloween – no decoration….
….Thanksgiving – no decoration…
….Christmas – almost no decoration…
If not because he brought down a tree and those ornaments from an attic and laid them all over the living room, “Bah Humbug” would be written all over my face and body folks!
The very first year I arrived in the US, my excitement went up the roof and shot up to the sky. You know in Thailand, the majority of the population is buddhist so we don’t celebrate Christmas in our household let alone having a Christmas tree in our houses (except at major hot spots or shopping malls around town that decorate for festive vibe). My first Christmas in the US was without our own tree, since we still lived in a teeny tiny apartment we didn’t have an urge to buy one. I went and helped my in-laws decoreated theirs instead. After we moved into a house and had a bigger space a few years later, we finally bought our first tree from Michael’s which we still use today. Somehow my excitement dies down a bit and my laziness has taken over..blah..blah..blah.

This past weekend, I pulled a trigger and got that evil lazy spirit out of me. Believe it or not people?? I decorated!!! My soon-to-be three year old little girl helped decorate our Christmas tree. She did a great job even though she lined up all the ornaments at the very very bottom in a perfect straight line and broke a few already. It is the memory that counts. I even made a video that I know I will cherish for years to come.
I am just starting to adopt Christmas traditions too. Very excited to decorate the house.

Aw... Playing the xmas song on your video and reading this post makes me feel all warn and fuzzy.
ReplyDeleteHow could you get lazy decorating for xmas? If I had my own house, I would definitely buy a Christmas tree and decorate the tree together with my hubby. It's just one of those many other couples' dream eh?
I like how your daughter helped to decorate the tree too. The memories must have been priceless despite a few broken ornaments. Those added to the memory too right?
I haven't put up decorations in years. I miss it a lot, but living in a studio really limits the space we can use for a tree. Maybe I'll buy a small one this year. :)
ReplyDeleteYour tree is so pretty!
Aww the decorations look lovely!! I bet your little princess is over the moon about it!! I personally can't be bothered to decorate because it takes up so much effort and time... o dear!
ReplyDeleteI don't normally decorate for any holidays but Christmas since it's my favorite time of the year! now having a tree, doesnt your house look so festive and happy hehehe
ReplyDeletethanks you so much Nelah for clicking on that site for me, really really appreciated it!!
Nelah, your tree is too cute! I love your decorations. That wooden toy train is adorable. As your daughter gets older each year, she will be able to help more with it. They love that kind of stuff. My problem is taking all that stuff down. HAHAHA Love yours! :D
