Bangkok series: Sweet Life

Helloooooooooooooo there! Nope I had not stopped blogging just yet. January and February turned out to be my very busy months preparing for a big trip to - Bangkok, Thailand - that is. My last visit was back in 2008 so it had been three full years and I am telling you I was THRILLED knowing that my wait would soon be over. Every minute is worthwhile and I seriously do not want to leave EVER!!!!
The airplane ride with my two year old was MUCH better than expected. She had her moments from time to time but she did fantastic overall considering how young she is and how much attention span a child this age has. My husband and I are so proud of her. It was extremely tiring and exhausting when travelled with a young child and tried to keep her entertained for 24 hours with very little sleep (for the entire 24 hour time frame from here to Bangkok, she slept only 3 hours on and off!). Other than that horrible jet lag that three of us had (took 4 days for our little one) and a big adjustment that my daughter had to make, I was glad we made it safe and sound so everyone in my family could see and spend time with her.

The most exciting part before our journey began even before we got on the plane. Just one day before our departure date, our city was also affected by that snow strom just like the most part of the country earlier this month. It was very very very rare circumstance for us in this state to experience extreme cold weather, let alone sleet or ice but it just happened. The power went on and off all day, we were concerned that our flight may be delayed or even canceled because there was a forecast of sleet and chance of snow by the end of the week. However, the plane came directly from Japan so we were clear to go. Once we arrived in Bangkok, we were told by my mother-in-law that the airport shut down just 12 hours after we left due to ice and sleet!!!!!!!!

Three hour layover at Narita - it went by so fast when we had a litle one to entertain

**Welcome to my home sweet home - Bangkok, Thailand**

The weather in February is pleasantly warm to hot comparing to what we experience in the US. The temperature is in the upper 80's during the day and mid 70's at night. You bet, it is also very humid. It gives us a break from that crazy cold and yucky weather.
I miss everything about this city. People always take things for granted and I am one of them. I didn't have much appreciation when I lived here but now I do more than ever. The ability to walk to places, use transportation like bus/taxi/sky train or subway without driving your own car. Everything is pretty much within a walking distance. Variety of great tasting food, sightseeings, shopping centers - ahhh. . . .I am in heaven.

A highlight of this trip also includes "SHOPPING", of course. "I" failed miserably as far as setting a limit. In fact, I did set a limit of $1,000 for food, entertainment and clothes but I ended up blowing almost doubled amount because 1) US dollars are very weak 2) the cost of living in Bangkok has gone up big time, you will be surprised to pay about as much as what you pay in the US for food, grocery and clothes in certain areas. 3) everything looks great, I can't resist!!! I shopped like I had never shopped before, let me tell you. Shopping has never felt this good in three years!!

It was nice being able to wear these babies, not boots in February

One of my favorite pieces I purchased during my first shopping day.

  2. Stylepint: Thanks. There are TONS and TONS of chic and cute stuff over here. It's really hard to resist. I bought several pairs of flats, they are very cheap but surprisingly comfortable. I wore ones for over 5 hours on a constant shopping spree and they never hurted my feet. Amazing!
