Bangkok series: On the go

Spotted these vintage pointy flats on my first shopping day in Bangkok. There is something about the design that makes me feel like a Parisian chic everytime I put these shoes on. I had not gone shoes shopping in ages - okay I exxagerated but doesn't three years sound like "forever" to you? I love flats but sometimes it is just not easy to find a good looking pair, not to mention the fit my tiny feet. Shoes shopping back home was like a paradise to me. Pretty shoes are everywhere. They come in different sizes, designs, colors, qualities and prices. Oh heaven!!!!! In the past, my purchases were mainly heels which ended up sitting unworn somewhere in the house. This time around, I knew I had to make a better move or else my husband would give me a look for buying something that I will never wear.

These cute little darlings come in three different (the ones shown above, light grey and light blue). I wanted them all to tell you the truth. Making a decision on a pair of shoes could never be that difficult but it was a tough one. Couldn't I have them all?!?! My braing was working really hard at that point. After 30 seconds of thorough consideration, I grabbed two pairs, paid and left the store happily ever after! Thinking back, I should have gotten the other color too haha.

Poor poor rose - it got squeezed in the suitcase. Hope it returns to its shape soon

On an unrelated note, I feel so darn tired after this trip. It is like I need a vacation after vacation if that makes any sense to you. Traveling with a child is definitely a whole new story, it never felt like you can really get to relax because you still have a little one to take care 24 hours. I guess I am still in the process of recuperating. The whole vacation was not that relaxing itself, it was more like a rush because we had very limited time. There were several things we could not do or had to cancel. So many people to see but we couldn't see everyone. If you haven't had a child yet, I highly recommend that you take the time and travel because it will be more difficult when you have one. I am not saying it is a horrible experience but it takes a lot more preparation. With good planning and preparation, the trip can be as smooth as silk (really?! lol).

One interesting comment my friends made to me was that I acted a lot more mature. I also feel like I am not who I used to be since last time I saw them. I acted silly, really silly, was a lot more playful and not so serious about life. Over the last three years, things changed dramatically. I am not sure that I totally like this change myself. I have become a lot more of an introvert and take things a lot more seriously. Planning is my top priority and I like to feel that I am in control of everything which sometimes drive me insane. I do want to be a silly person who I used to be. I want to be that person who can relax, laugh, go with the flow and stop planning things. Sometimes we just focus on something too much that we igore the joy and beauty in life and I am the case. I seriously need to take the time to go to a temple, meditate and find my inner peace once again. I wish I went to temples when I was home because the nearest Thai temple here is over an hour away!!

My husband is an extreme opposite. He is so laid back, cool and calm in every situation (there are times when he gets frustrated and freaks out but very rare). If my husband and I were the same type, I didn't think we could stay together because things would go downhill and down the drain lol. There are times I want him to be like me but at the end of the day I feel grateful he is the way he is. I guess this is the case when the difference creates a harmony and nice balance in the relationship. Okay..my self-therapy session is over for today - hope you enjoy me rambling and complaning :)

  1. Great post as always, Nelah! The shoes are gorgeous. I'd love to see how you style them. Traveling with the little one is definitely not easy. I am glad you were able to see your friends and family. I am sure all of the planning and preparation are totally worth it.

  4. The shoes are so lovely and classy!

I feel that way about children right now, I always thought I wanted a baby by 25 but with my career jump starting and babysitting my coworkers children I feel there so much I got to do before I make the leap to have a child.

  5. You're not complaining, you're just being honest. Traveling with kids IS really hard, but it would make you feel worse to deny them those opportunities just because it's hard work for you. Sometimes I'd much rather leave my daughter with my parents than take her but then I have to remember it's for her benefit too.

I adore those flats, they're so super cute! I'm glad you got the two pairs!

  7. Hi Nelah. I was just browsing through your blog. Your rose flats are simply divine. You seem to like floral, bows and ruffles a lot- very feminine. I like your style.

I am amazed that you have a little girl but yet you look so good and fashionable. Not a typical mommy. Im extremely curious but I am eager to know the reason why you named your page "52 new days". I presume there is some significance to that 52 figure??

By the way, you little girl is gorgeous.

Following you. If you have the time, I would be delighted if you would visit me too.

  8. Dear Nelah,

Thank you for your quick response and lovely comments. Although I am medical doc, pathology is my specialty. Hence, the patients that I come face to face are lying dead in the morgue. So, I dont have that problem.

I am absolutely looking forward to finding out the "52 days" issue. Worth the wait. Hope to keep in touch!

  14. Hi Nelah! Thanks for dropping by my blog and leaving such a kind comment :). I LOVE these shoes. Bangkok is somewhere I've always wanted to visit. And the ridiculous thing is, I'm from Malaysia so it's easy enough for me to pop by but never have! And you know what they say, opposites attract ;). So I'm sure you and your husband keep each other well balanced, which makes for a great partnership! :)

I don't normally like to put a link to my blog in a comment (because I think it's shameless advertising), but you don't have the Name/URL option available and I don't use blogspot. And I don't want you to think that you commented on my blog but I never replied! So just so you know who this is ;)

  15. Nelah - I can't get enough of your girly finds from Bangkok! Love those shorts with the bows down the sides (from a few posts back) and these flower flats. These posts make me want to go back to Asian and shop and eat to my heart's content! And I like what you did with your banner and your new rosette top : )

  16. Oh those shoes are so pretty and I love the new header! My husband and I are opposites too - there are times when it's frustrating but as you mentioned if we were too much a like I don't think we would've lasted this long LOL - we kind of balance each other out :)
