Father's Day Special~*

I am getting more adventurous (or crazy as you may say) with my pose this time around. What can I do with the same old background , right? I decided to combine two topics in one post today because I felt too lazy to blog the other day, I admit. So here goes the outfit I wore on the weekend plus Father's Day special...Tada.

Shall we start with OOTFD (Outfit of the Father's Day)? I know by this point you are tired of seeing me in ruffles but bear with me...hehe. It must be my signature style (or my obsession) or something.

Onto Father's Day recap, I bought this card for my dear husband and even customized it for him! How special is that, right..right?

Fathers make the world go round as much as mothers do. Even though they do not do the exact same things women do for their children. Fathers bring in a different vibe and energy of parenthood and partake in raising children in different ways.

There are all kinds of fathers out there. From fathers who never change diaper to fathers who do it all, except breastfeeding. I am very lucky as two men in my life fall into a second category. One is my own father and another man is a father of my child. Both men are extraordinary, they go above and beyond, and always go extra miles for their loved ones.

My father is someone who I always look up too. Growing up in an Asian family back in Thailand, we do not show/express "love" as openly as families in the west especially now that all his kids are all grown-ups. We find it kind of awkward to "hug" or to say "I love you" every now and then. Expressing love should not be awkward but it is when you are not used to doing it. Now that my parents and I live on the opposite ends of the earth, it has never been easy. Seeing them once a year or every two year is a true torture. A phone line seems to be the only thing that connects and keeps us close. I know for the fact that I always find this comfort in his voice when I hear him on the phone. There are times when I don't have anything to say but I just want to hear his voice and I feel better.

One of the obvious demonstrations of his act of going extra miles in the recent years was when he traveled to the US back and forth twice in 2009 and 2010 to help me and my husband with our first baby. He stayed for a total of almost 8 months. People find it interesting to hear that grandpa is in charge of that. He fed, changed diapers, put a baby down for naps, played with her and everything on repeat 5 days a week for the entire 8 months. And remember this is a man. I can't even do that as a mother.

Friends, what do you appreciate or love the most about your father?

  3. aw i truly agree with everything! A father do give a different vibe of raising but that's what make it so special. My parents are also far away too and it is really hard to only see them once in awhile..they especially miss our lil Kaylee a lot too..but thanks to technology they are just one click away..via Skype

  4. Cute card! I always love your thoughtful posts. I really appreciate my dad b/c he has always been supportive and encouraging of everything I have ever done in my life. He's also really fun - I remember it was him that had to get down and play barbies and wonderwoman with me hahaha!

  5. Well, first of all I absolutely LOVE your shorts and your ruffly top. So cute!

Unfortunately my dad lives 6 hours away, so we don't get to see each other very often. What I love about my dad though is that when he's with me, he's with me. He really focuses and seems to care about what I am doing and praising me for how proud he is.

  8. i absolutely feel the same way you do about having trouble expressing love b/c I grew up in an Asian family too. it's still kinda awkward & i'm already 22 >.< but i'm lucky to have a Dad who's always there for me too. i didn't really appreciate it when I was young and found it bothersome that he was always home early from work & always home for dinner etc. I actually felt envious of my friends whose dad came home really late since my friends could just watch as much TV as they wanted LOL but as I get older, I begin to appreciate how hard my dad works to give me the things I have.

  13. haha the card is too cute! it's funny because i would customize the cards for my hubby as well. hehe

on the other hand, i'm not so close to my father as i wish i could've been. even though he's only 420 miles away from me and not in thailand, i do miss him a lot. we rarely speak to each other now but that doesn't make me love him less. i really do apppreciate him and all that he's done for me. i understand now why he had pushed me to be hardworking and successful in everything that i do and for that, i am grateful. :)

for him, father's day is really on december 5th... so this one didn't count. we're pretty traditional. hehe

have a wonderful weekend with the family na ja!

  14. hahah that card is so cute and funny! :)
I get along quite well with my father, he always find the way to support what I'm doing and in my choices, but he has the capacity to make me understand where and when I'm doing wrong.
we both are quite touchy, so we argue quite often and as I am quite proud, I don't show him love as much as I would, even when we argue.
He actually thaugh me to be hardworking and try to achieve things and goals with my capacities.
He also passed me on the love for science and planes :)

that post, and that final question are great. you actually made me think about what I love about my dad and bright up my day! thanks!

  16. A really beautiful post nelah. I feel so touched reading about your dad travelling to US and also all the things he did for his grandaughter. our dad is really a gem. It's great that your hubby belong to the same category too. I hope my hubby would okay the role of a fun but stern father.

I agree with you about showing love for parents esp since we're brought up the Asian way. I find it very difficult to say I love you or hug too but I love my dad a lot. He's such such an even tempered man and he cares for us so much from little actions like waiting up for me to pick me up when I work late and whipping up a quick meal for me when he knows I haven't eaten. I appreciate all these and show my love by being filial.
