Chanel goodies from Europe~*

Chanel..Chanel..oh Chanel. I happen to be one of those who got bitten by a highly contagious Chanel bug this year. Chanel does not only make classic handbags, ready-to-wear garments and other leather goods but they know something about skincare products. YES THEY DO!! All these times, I must have been underestimated Chanel in their skincare department. What an insult!!

I just had never thought of venturing into their makeup or skincare counter to experience the goodness. Often, those crazy expensive handbags are so expensive that they simply mesmerize me and make my legs weak so I never make it to their skincare counter. I tried countless brands from affordable ones at my neighborhood American most favorite drugstore like Walgreen to those high end brands like Dior and the famous La Mer, still no Chanel. Why..why…why? To my surprise, I have not seen or heard much about Chanel skincare line as much as their makeup line (especially the foundation, lipstick and nail polish). Folks, sorry to disappoint you. This is not a review of a Chanel handbag since I already max out my purse fund this year (sigh!!)

Heaven up above was kind enough to send my sweet and thoughtful Peh Sun of Squeeze the Pug to the rescue mission. After quietly observing and stalking my search for that perfect moisturizer, she thought it was about time for me to experience it for myself. She previously mentioned this line but how could I not believe a Chanel expert like her!?!? I guess I was sort of fed up that my 2nd jar of Crème de la Mer lost its magic touch to the point that I didn’t want to believe anything. Thus I gave up and used my baby girl’s lotion ever since. Cheaper and effective alternative!

{Yeah baby, I live in the land of Texas..Heehah!!}

About a month ago, a package from Europe arrived at my door and I couldn’t be more excited. First and foremost, I knew she was sending something but I had no clue what it could be. A bomb? A Chanel bag? Two Chanel bags? Close enough, she sent me some Chanel goodies to try out. How thoughtful is Peh Sun?!?!? If you have been reading my blog, you may be familiar with Peh Sun’s name by now because I only mention her name a few hundred times ever since I found her. Just can't help it because we develop a one of a kind friendship. I am about to reveal one of the talents that most people do not know about, very impressive I must say. She is not only good at cutting human’s bodies opened, but her artistic side simply blows me awaaaay. Just look at this handmade card, isn’t it lovely??? She should be an artist in her free time (if she even has any free time).

The goodies she sent were a mix of Hydramax line ranging from Active Moisture Bootst Serum to Nourishing Cream. Each type has different texture, thickness and consistency but they all smell heavenly and pleasantly. My new love is "HYDRAMAX + ACTIVE SÉRUM - ACTIVE MOISTURE BOOST"

Product description from Chanel: An ultra-hydrating serum for dry or very dry skin goes to the source of skin's hydration needs.. At the heart of the formula: CERATONIA PFA* powerfully stimulates hydration; a Hydrabarrier System™ locks it in, resulting in healthy-looking, smooth, supple skin. Enriched with Aquaperfyl™, a complex of moisture-boosting components, this silky serum sinks in on contact for immediate dry-skin relief.

*PFA: Polyfractioned Active. An ultra-pure, ultra-powerful ingredient created through an exclusive purification technique developed by CHANEL.

My opinion: despite being a serum, this product does amazingly well in delivering moisture to dehydrated and dull skin. It is refreshing, absorbs incredibly fast and my skin feels and looks plumped. At first this product reminds me so much of Dior Hydra Life Energizer but Chanel version does a better job as far as providing much needed moisture yet doesn't leave that sticky feeling after application. It is a perfect serum to use all year round especially summer. Once the weather gets drier, I may need a cream version which is thicker and more concentrated. Overall, LOVE!! I am going to order some in full size.

At $82, it is still exepnsive but it is Chanel. What do you expect, right? It is still cheaper than Creme de la Mer which is $130 a pop for the smallest jar or Dior Capture Totale line which is also $100+. You may want to refer to my old reviews on La Mer and Dior Capture Totale if you happen to have a similar skin type as mine.

Discliamer: these products were sent to me for personal use by a friend who is not assoicated with Chanel company. It is simply an act of sharing beauty products between friends. Thank YOU, Peh Sun for sharing the Chanel goodness!

  1. Hi! I visited 2 blogs today, Squeeze the Pug and Sassy Uptown Chic, and both featured your blog in it. So I decided to stop by and see what the hype was all about. :D And fell in love with your blog. I love all your Jewelry! I think they will make perfect Christmas gifts! I am now a follower! :D

  2. LOL Ria (above)! And girl, I had no idea Peh Sun (I'm just figuring out her name Nelah!)nor Nelah would be doing these posts. It's wild! HAHAHA Great minds! HAHAHAHA

Nelah, Peh Sun is the greatest girl! I love her, she's such a wonderful role model. She made me cry and SMILE today. :) That was so sweet of her to send you those Chanel beauty products. Girl, I saved my money up and bought the entire collection of La Mer from Saks Fifth Avenue. You KNOW how expensive that was!!! I was so disappointed. EXTREMELY overrated! Various drugstore brands did better than that stuff. I will have to read your prior review. I was too frustrated and never bought high end after that experience. I didn't even know that Chanel had a 'beauty' line. YES, i know about their makeup and nail polish etc, but I didn't know they had serums and cleansers. I'm so glad you like it. And the price is not bad compared to La Mer! I will definitely look into. Thank you Peh Sun for sending it to her and Thank you Nelah for your review. I've totally messed up the English language and format on this one, but I'm still on medication for my tooth. OH! I almost forgot! I AM LOVING THAT CARD! How talented is Peh Sun!!!! She should open an etsy shop too. I would buy the t-shirts, notecards! HAHAHA She could come up with all kinds of stuff to sell. LOVE IT! All of y'all have a great night. ((HUG))

  14. Omigosh, how nice is Peh Sun. Free Chanel goodies- what a treat! I too, used Creme de la mer, which, in my opinion should be called creme of don't waste your money. It didn't do anything for me. Reading your posts always get me in a better mood- reminds me that in this big crazy world people are still kind and generous :)

  16. I'm supposed to be marking and preparing for my lessons but I realised I've been missing a couple of your posts since you update almost every day. Peh Sun is really sweet right? I'm also awed by her science and arts side.

I've often wondered what it would be like if we were all in the same part of the world and met up. lol

  17. Hi there just wanted to give you a quick heads up.
The text in your article seem to be running off the screen in Internet explorer.

I'm not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with internet browser compatibility but I figured I'd post to let you know.
The design look great though! Hope you get the problem resolved soon.
    Kudos
