The Columnist Twill Pants and Random things

(Folks, you have come to the right place. This is Nelah's same old blog, I just played with new design and tested out my long lost html skills)
I guess I am not totally head over heels over this particular style. I ordered two Twill Columnist pants in heather gray and pitch black. The style and fabric are very beautiful and modern but I don't think they look as flattering as the Editor Wide Waistband here. For some odd reason, they are also bigger in the waist area despite the fact that they are in the same size (00S) as the Editor but I assume the position where it sits on the body is differnt. There is a gap (around 1 inch or so) but I can fix that with a belt. Since it is sort of loose, that makes these pants too long. I had to wear 4 inches heels!!

If your waist is less than 26, these pants may be too big on you.

In below pictures, the heather gray has NOT been washed but the pitch black went through one wash. The fabric looks and feels better after going through one wash. I decided to keep them and plan on getting both hemmed.

My next pair(s) will definitely be the Editor.

I took my little girl to the Mall this Saturdy for her shoe's shopping since the ones she has are getting old and falling apart. My husband and I have been buying shoes for her from Stride Rite store which specializes in kiddies' shoes. They are pricey but there is no doubt about the quality. Since she is at the age where she is on her feet all the time, we want her to have good shoes that conform to her feet and provide good support. Boy, we spent $70 on two pairs of shoes for a 20 months old!! That's more than I spent on mine!!!

Is that little cowgirl boot adorable?!? We didn't buy that one for her. Maybe next time.

Okay my turn now - I was drooling over these sexy heels when I walked by. Boy oh boy, they are gorgeous but I had to say goodbey darling because they are 5 - 6 inches tall!! Crazy!!! I will definately kill my back walking in these shoes. What the heck is going on with shoes these days? The heels are ridiculously and incredibly HIGH. If only there were about 2 - 3 inches, I may suffice.

Next, we went to Toy R Us, I wanted to buy a slide for my little girl. She gets to become more adventurous now so I thought she may enjoy it. I just can't help myself checking out some other toys and was amazed with these toys for girls. My goodness, there is a hair salon set, a FABULOUS dress up trunk. C'mon people, it is for a little girl. I don't want to hear my girl walking around the house saying fabulous all day long. My goodness. That little dress up trunk is for 3+.

Today, Forever21 goes big and bold at the Mall in my area. There used to be a store inside the mall but today they had the ENTIRE building to itself. This is like a Forever21 empire! It is a gigantic building in the same mall complext and today is the grand opening (which I didn't know). I am not sure how many floors this building has but Forever21 fans in my area can go crazy shopping here all day long. It offers all lines (Love21, Faith21, Heritage1981, full line of accessories and so on). This is a place for you my dear Collete of Statements in Fashion

They are in the new building, new store, new floor plan but one thing that will never change is loud and annoying music. I walked in and out in less than 5 minutes.

  1. Ahhhhh Nelah.....you KNOW me:) thank you for the pics....and guess what?? I went to a NEW F21 today...about an hours drive away from my house....it was by far, the BIGGEST one I have ever been in...we go to Hawaii every year, they have a huge one there, but nothing like the one I was at today...it was one floor....but that store just went on and on and on....it was set up by style line...Heritage, Faith..Twelve by Twelve...HUGE shoe area....HUGE jewelry....lets just say...I did some MAJOR damage in that store tonight!! Youll see some new pics soon of all the goodies:) I LOVE the boots you were eyeing....I some some tonight too....but there was NO WAY I could walk in something 6" for ten hours a day, that just isnt going to happen, lol.
How cute about Stride Rite....I used to take my kiddos there too....they really do have the best little shoes:)
Thank you for mentioning me in your post.....you are a sweetheart!!!

PS...I like the Editor pants a bit better too:)

  4. nelah-- i love those express pants on you. the grey color is nice to the conventional black...i've been looking for a nice pair, but nothing has worked out yet.

yeah they are making crazy heels these days. i stop at 4" with some platform. haha its hard to walk in sf hills!

we have a 3 story f21 here...it's too much. i prefer just one floor.

awww i love toys when i was a little girl. my favorite was mall madness!! i think that's how i got my shopaholic tendencies from...i blame it on them!!!

  7. And that is why I haven't bought anything at Forever 21 lately. I can't handle being in the store and I'm too chicken to buy things online! Plus I rarely have money in the account these days because we pay for everything with cash.

Those girls' toys are awesome! My daughter has a dress up trunk with Disney princess outfits and she has a Disney princess keyboard/vanity and a princess kitchen. She LOVES them.

I'm sorry those pants are too big on you - they do look great though! If they feel good otherwise, maybe it's worth it to have them tailored?

Hope you're having a great weekend!

  8. I love these express pants on you! I am in need of gray pants myself so...will have to look into that.

That F21 store is humongous...I recently went to their semi new flagship store in Time Square and was appalled by how much clothes they produce. I walked out with nothing because I couldn't focus on anything for more than 5 seconds before being drawn away to another shinier item. End result is I ended up with nothing.

And you are such a good mom, I too think kids need really good shoes since a lot of the shaping takes place early on. I also think grownups need practical shoes that won't harm their feet but I sometimes give in to trendy high heels that I know are terrible for my body.

And kid toys are so out of control these days.

  9. I really like those Express pants on you. I tried them on the other day at store and they were a bit big on me (in 00S). I know what you mean about Stride Ride store. I only buy shoes for my little girl there. They are pricey for sure but their shoes are very comfortable. I can wear cheapy shoes but little one can't. I always have hard times spending $50 for a pair of shoes for her especially they only last for about 6 months :)

  10. Everyone has commented oh how great the Express pants look on you and I have to agree! They look great unhemmed with high heels but for practical purposes they will be comfy (as well as look good) with work heels and a shorter hem.

LOL to the Forever 21, sounds like paradise. If the store is getting bigger, oh geeze one can really get lost in that store.

  11. Too bad about the inconsistent sizing...I thought the 00 Editors were too big so the twill pants would probably not work either. Maybe they will shrink in the wash? Either way you're having great luck with Express pants lately and the black ones look like they are keepers.

Wow, what a huge F21! Hopefully it is well organized.

  12. Lol every time I come to your blog it's a different design! But they've all been looking good so far :)

I actually though the black pant length is a touch short, then I read that you're wearing 4" heels! And gosh, I would probably not even come anywhere near such a large F21 unless I'm trying to hunt down a very specific item and need their larger inventory.

  15. Wow the F21 is ginormous! It will make tons of girls very happy :) I think the pants look great on you actually- although they are a tad long, they are very slimming and make your legs look super long! I love heels but I can't go more than 4 inches.. ouchies.

Aw I'm glad you're not going to let your daughter grow up into a young lady too fast :)

  16. Sorry the pants didn't turn out exactly how you imagined. They looked good in the pictures. Love the heels!
