Animals night~**

I came across a post on Cruelty Free Beauty Products blog by Karen a few days ago. As an animal lover, my heart was breaking when I read about the horrible story behind the fur/clothing industry. The descriptions are extremely graphic. I could barely read until the end.

Please check out her blog if you love "fur coat" and tell me if you can proudly wear your beautiful fur coat ever again.

I personally do not own any "real" fur products but after reading that story, I decided to ban all fur items altogether - no matter real or fake. To be honest, I had no clue about the whole process until I read her post. Do animals always have to be killed for us to get their fur? It is hard to believe that money and greed can turn some people into satans.

There are two groups of people that should be blamed. The fur industry and the consumers especially those who know the fur coats they are wearing come from the animals who were once in extreme pain and fear. How can you do that type of job everyday and go to sleep at night? OMG!

I am not an animal activist but I love animals. Story like this sadden me. I have rescued strayed dogs/cats and injured birds ever since I can remember. I used to have 5 dogs at one time. The owner left them behind when they moved to a new home. All of them had mild to severe skin disease because the owners didn't take good care of them. My mom and I saved and had them in our house (luckily we lived in a spacious house so we had a lot of space for them). They lived with us until their last day of lives.

Strayed dogs and cats are another major social problem in Asia, especially Southeast Asia where I used to live. Thre are thousands, ten thousands or millions of strayed animals. A lot of them have serious skin diseases. Their lives may seem worthless to some peole but I just can't leave them to die. It is not their fault to breed but the owners' fault who are horribly irriponsible. People buy puppies and kittens because they are "cute" but once they outgrow that "cute" stage, people would leave them at temples, on the highway or wherever is convenient for them. Can you believe it?

One night, I watched "Animal Horders" on Animal Planet and thought "oh my god, that's me"lol.

Please give you pet(s) a big hug and be a responsible pet owner.

  1. Awww....I agree with you Nelah.....I'm a vegetarian for ethical reasons and from what Ive read and learned through the years...my Daughter just got a leaflet from PETA this past week where it discussed cats and dogs being used for "faux fur" accessories.....it too, saddened my heart.

Good for you my friend, for speaking out on such a sensitive subject and for those who cant for themselves......

  3. Nelah! Ohmygosh I SO agree with you that it's not the animal's fault, but the terrible owner!! Animals are totally at our mercy, and it's so wrong humans do whatever they want with them. It's such a tragedy, and there are much worse stories out there than the ones from the fur industry! If you ever read a book on factory farms.. you will be so horrified and probably never eat meat or dairy products. Thanks for posting this.. hopefully someone who doesn't know about these issues will read it and learn from it!

  4. Dear Nelah, this makes me want to tear up.. I'm really touched by your compassion and understanding for animals. Thank you for sharing my post with others and spreading awareness on how terrible fur really is. I also know that it's a big problem when people dump their pets b/c they grow out of the "cute" stage.. it seriously breaks my heart and angers me at the same time! I think what you do (in rescuing strays) is truly wonderful and I admire you very much for that.

I updated my fur post by including a link to yours if that's okay with you :)

  5. I know what you mean Nelah.I love pets too!and It's really sad when this happens :( especially to that cute bunny!v_v it makes me sad.

You know my sister's husband he took care 20 strayed cats.Instead of taking care imported ones.He said in japan cats are really expensive to have, so he get sad when he see in my country they get kicked and sometimes cars run into them.

It's sad because his cats are always killed by this cars who doesnt even care if theres cats in the street =/ I really feel bad for him.Sometimes, people are heartless.

  7. I don't own any real fur and I only really eat ground meat and chicken (basically meat that doesn't look anything like their former selves...nothing on bone). I tried the no meat thing when I was younger and I ended up becoming anemic so I had to reconsider being a vegetarian. I am so sad right now, I love little animals but never owned any as a kid because my mom was allergic to furry things (also why I hoard stuff animals)...I would never knowingly support an industry that inflicts this level of pain on innocent beings, I don't know how some people sleep at night.

  8. I've never been a supporter of real fur and I think faux fur on clothing and accessories provide the same level of chicness. After seeing graphic pictures from "Earthling," a documentary on industries dealing with animals, I feel even more outraged. I can't bring myself to watch the actual documentary:( It's just terrible what they do to these animals. There were even pictures of skinned dogs and as a fellow animal lover, it made me feel sick to my stomach. I think it's wonderful that you and ur mom took in those animals:)
