My One of a Kind Red Bag~*

r1

Women can never have enough handbags, jewelry and clothes. The more, the merrier. You know I have been rambling, dreaming and hunting bag after bag like crazy this year. In my entire life, I don't remember spending or to be exact dumping (or "investing" if that makes me feel a bit better) this much on such things..really. What the heck is going on in my little head?!?!

r3

My crazy journey starts with Chanel Mini Classic Flap in Metallic Lambskin and a month later another Dior Panerea in beige happlily came home with mama. Deep inside those little brain cells, I want one extra bag in black.....ooooh what about red!??!?! Do I ever have red bag? Do I?!?!? Boy - I forgot that I do!!!

My wooden red bag (BAG not BOX :D). I dare to say that it is one of a kind, there are not many available in the world and it is almost 10 years old. I guess I can say she is a vintage bag, perhaps? She doesn't have any label, no name or whatsoever because she was made from scratch and real wood, hand painted in red with some pattern on top (just don't remember what type of wood). This bag has a nice wieght to it but not to the point that it weights my shoulder down badly.

I found her during a shopping spree with my BFF in 2002 when I still lived in Bangkok. My BFF got one in black and I got one in red. We are bag twins!! We did take our bags on a spin on many occasions. I managed to remember to bring her to the US with me a few years later because she is so unique...she is one of a kind and everytime I look at her, she reminds me of my best friend.

She was not expesive when I got her but she holds so much sentimental value. I can never let her go. When I first moved to the US, I wrapped and put her in on of the closets to keep her safe and totally forgot about it....until I thought about red bag....somehow a vivid memory displayed in my head. I have had red bag all along and she is here the whole time. The best part, I don't have to spend a penny! On another thought, I can probably use her as a self defense tool..lol...she sure comes in handy.

  5. Hi Nelah,

Thanks for your comment on my blog. I've browsed around your blog and love your style, so following you via bloglovin now.
I think it's great that you're a wife and Mom and put family first, but do not neglect other things in life. I know many women abandon even their very good friends the moment they have a boyfriend, and they're not even married and have babies yet. And yes, happy Mom raises happy children. Happy wife = happy husband! (It's not me saying it, it's my male friends, married ones) And that you still manage to work, be a wife, Mom, and keep up appearances, you're my inspiration!! I know there's no full-time maid and nanny in the US, unlike in Thailand or my country Indonesia. Your husband is very lucky!

  8. Hi Nelah,

Thanks for dropping by my blog! I'm following you now! :)

What an adorable bag! I've never seen anything like this and I'm glad you brought it with you when you moved from Bangkok. Speaking of Bangkok, I am a huge fan of Bangkok..the shopping there is just amazing!

I think you're an amazing lady to be able to juggle work and family so it's okay to reward yourself with a couple of designer bags really!

  9. This little wooden bag reminds me of an instrument case or a case to put some glass bottles of magic potions or wines and spirits. It's great that you remembered to bring it with you coz this is such a unique bag.

Actually when I was at Maldives, I kept thinking about what would happen to these very beautiful but extremely flat and low lying atoll islands should they be hit by a tsunami. The land is really flat as you can see. I haven't been to Thailand before, not even Bangkok--the cheap shopping paradise, which is very rare for any Singaporean lady and everybody just gasp when I told them I haven't been to Bangkok before.

Hehe... Yup. It's my dream bag, the classic flap. I'll feature it in a post in time to time.
