It was not an ordinary day for me when I had an urge to shop. If you have read my blog for a while, you know that clothes shopping is not something I do regulary. I can count on one hand how many times I went clothes shopping in 8 months. My husband and I are on track with our saving goal and we have been doing so good, so why don't I reward myself a bit I thought.
I went to the mall during my lunch (10 mins from work) break earlier this week. Hey, it was a good mid day stress relief from work. Forever21 and Bebe were the biggest disappointments, I should have known especially Forever21.

My pleasant surprise turned out to be "Express", I didn't remember owning anything from this particular brand before (believe it or not) but I was pleased with what I saw. I tried on at least 5 differnt tops in XS. You know I used to be a type of shopper who goes in, grab what I like, never try clothes on and end up with clothes which do not fit. I am quite pround that I have been doing much better nowadays. It takes me a little longer in store but it's worth the effort, I just hate returning things.

When I purchased these two, it was not my intention to pair them together at all. I was thinking about using each item for other stuff that I have already had but the color combinations looked quite interesting when I put them next to each other.
Mini skirt is not really my thing. I do not feel comfortable wearing anything above knees but this skirt is too irrisistable and I think I should try something different once in a while. As for the top, it fits nicely and I love the ruffles on the shoulder
I just love the color of this skirt. It is so girly girl but I wish it was longer. I ended up getting two tops (the next one is coming up in the next post) and one skirt. There were so many cute tops which I tried on but their necklines were way too wide and deep. There are so many good looking tops, jackets and skirts on their website as well but I am going to resist my temptation!

ReplyDeleteI saw that skirt last time I was in Express too. Looked like it runs small but I didn't have time to try anything on. Their tops never fit me though, like you said they're always cut too wide and deep (and also too long).
I'm really loving that top! It looks very comfortable and easy to wear. I'm sure you could pair it with a lot of other wardrobe staples.
ReplyDeleteThat ruffle skirt is SO cute on you. I can't help it, I love ruffles and pink! That top is also so cute, I don't recall Express being a store that would carry items like these. I haven't been to an Express in forever though, for some reason the atmosphere in the store is just off to me.

Nelah the skirt looks fantastic on you, and that's a great pic! Even though it's outside your comfort zone, I don't think it's too short.. for that particular style and with the ruffles, it might look funny if it was longer (might be too much ruffle going on)! Glad to hear you found some hits rather than misses when you went shopping, and happy to hear you rewarded yourself for being so good :)

ReplyDeleteYou did GREAT!!! Theres an Express at my mall, right along with H&M, Love Culture, Forever 21, Windsor store, For Love 21, Guess,Charlotte Russe...Yea, Id say our Mall hooks us up....you are right about F21, its a hit or miss, I usually find something:)
ReplyDeleteLovely combo. I never would have thought to put these two items together, but they work well on you. You look very cute in the mini-skirt. Express tops are cut for regular height girls, not for petites, that's why they almost always look too low-cut.

Elle: I am a sucker when it comes to ruffle and pink too. As a matter of fact, I wanted ones in each color but I was not willing to spend that much money. This was my first time in that store in a year so I was quite pleased with their stuff.
Sophia and The Owl's Closet: yes I was glad I found something. I hate it when I waste my trip to the mall. You should check their items online. They do look pretty decent, something about their latest designs resemble me of Bebe.
Collette: c'mon missy! You look absolutely stunning in everything. I would like to call you a Queen of Forever21 ;) You can go with so many different looks.
Sydney / Vicky and Jean: I do like that top a lot and am thinking about getting one more in different color. I wish their tops were not ridiculously long though. Average standard size women do not have torso at that length (at least where I live, I don't see a lot of tall poppulation)
