Fashion and beauty blogs have given me so much inspirations and they slowly (but surely) change my life in a good way. As a woman and a mom to a young toddler, it is not easy to find time to pamper myself..the time is there but I am always too tired to dress, too lazy to put makeup on, too cheap to invest in high quality clothes and my excuses go on. My mom always say "women should always look her best no matter how old we are". My mom is always well dressed and her makeup looks appropriate for her age
From now on I want to make a change..a little bit at a time..I want to look beautiful, more energetic and be happier for my little girl, for my husband and for myself. I would like to have something that I can look back when I am old and crusty and say "hey, I used to look quite decent". I almost forgot how much fun playing dress up is. However, I can tell you right now that I am still on a mission to save and save and save, and that is not going to change lol. You will not see Chanel, Louis Vuitton or those high end products on my blog unless I totally lose my mind, or win a lottery.
So this weekend, I went shopping for the first time in...errr..a month or two. Where did I go? - TJMax. What did I expect to find?..Nothing really..lol. I went inside and came out with 1 outfit for myself and 5 for my little girl. When you become a mom, that's what happens I guess lol.
So what did I buy..okay I found this "convertible dress" from Lapisgirl. It is "one size fit all" and you can wear it 4 different ways. I just want something different that give me a "summer-y" feel before summer is officially over because my wardrobe is beyond boring in terms of color variations.

Below outfits are from my "recycle" collection. I have them forever but do not wear them as often as I should. This little dress is from a Junior Department at Kolh's, I don't remember what the brand is but it fits nicely.
These two pieces I bought from one of the malls in Bangkok, Thailand. Seriously, I can't believe how high the markup is for clothes sold in the US. It is ridiculously expensive! For the same quality, you pay 50 - 70% less somewhere else. That is one of the reasons why I have been frugal and saving, I am anticipating a trip overseas next year and I would rather spend $1,000 - $1,500 buying high quality clothes that fit me and are far more reasonable. I can't wait to come back with suitcases loaded with cute, chic and more affordable outfits.
Candie's Animal Printed Blouse - I bought it last year and have worn a few times. These flats, let me tell you, they are so cute but hurt my feet horribly.
This blazer/jacket (whatever you call it) is also from Kohl's (once again, I don't remember the brand) and inside is a sleeveless blouse from Forever21.
Hope everyone have a fun and great work week. I have to arrive at work at 7am on Monday, I hope I can get myself out of bed and make it on time!!!
u look cute, nelah! i have to admire ur discipline with shopping:) it's so true, clothes are so much more affordable overseas!

You look great, I love that little black and white dress!
ReplyDeleteAweeeeeee...YAY! Your first lookbook!!! You look great in all the pics!!! I love the blazer you have on:)
ReplyDeleteNelah you look SO stunning!! And, I absolutely support your wanting to make changes! I know exactly what you mean about making little changes.. sometimes it's something as tiny as putting on a perfect color lipstick, doing your hair, or wearing a new article of clothing, and it can make you feel renewed and pretty and confident! Can't wait to see more looks from you :)
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I can't wait to see what you get from overseas!
ReplyDeleteThank you ladies for your kind words and encouragement. I still have a long way to go.
ReplyDeleteThe owl's closet: you are so sweet. As for my saving discipline, it takes time, and practice."NO" is a key to success :D However I didn't think I could save if i ever found these irresistible fashion blogs earlier. Hope you feel much better these days.
Curls and pearls: glad to hear that you like my recycle collection. I had to clean out my closet and got rid of several items because those clothes were too small. Never thought in a million year that would happen when I said clothes were too small.
ReallyPetite: thank you very much. That blazer looks quite decent despite the fact that I got it from junior dept. again :)
Sophia: You are too sweet. With magical touch from a makeup fairy and good lighting, i can fool you ;) I browsed through your old posts and I have to tell you that you are an amazing person with a very beautiful soul. I am glad I know you.
Love 'n salt: I can't wait either. I am really looking forward to it (especially shopping part, I know it is going to feel strange spending money). I hope my little girl can tolerate her 1st 20+ hour flight, it is quite scary because she will turn two!! I am praying for a smooth flight without temper tantrums. Wish me luck.
Congrats on your first lookbook :). I really like the first two dresses. Great posts, btw :).
ReplyDeleteEven dresses from the juniors department at Kohls are too big on me...sigh
ReplyDeleteNice start... :)
ReplyDeleteI agree that clothing in Asia are much more reasonably priced! I wish I had the time and money to go back and really shop! I'm also trying to work on looking more put-together too, one small step at a time. I recently learned how to do an acceptable french manicure on myself and just having my nails done makes me feel so well-groomed :)
ReplyDeleteBy the way I made quick stop at F21 last weekend and saw the pretty tank you got in pink and ivory... I ended up getting the pink one! :)
These outfits are SO cute! I especially like the black/white dress on you, as well as the white dress with brown blazer! :) Yay for super great finds! ^^
