eShakti~**

First of all, I highly recommend my dear friends to check out this article "Web Photos That Reveal Secrets, Like Where You Live". This is like a security alert, a wake up call for us bloggers who use different channels of social networkings. It is long but so WORTH reading it for your own sake and safety. I am literraly FREAKING OUT after reading it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay to the topic, sorry it took me a while to do a review on my 1st order from eShakti. Some of you have been expecting it so here it is. For those who haven't heard about eShakti, you can read my old post here. I ordred a custom size and style Pleat waist cotton poplin dress in canary yellow. I placed my ordered on 8/2. It was shipped within 3 days as stated on the website and my dress arrived 8/9. The package was straight from India.

Please excuse the lighting, I took these pictures in the evening. The color of the dress is so gorgeous, everything looks exactly like the above picture (except wrinkles). However, when I took this dress out from the package, I went "whoaaa, that's very big". I could tell right away, the sizing was too big.

Their dress was beautifully made. I wish I could show you all the details. The fabric was of good quality but it didn't fit right in certain parts. I ordered a custom size and style but there was plenty of room in the chest and waist areas. The fittings around the armholes, neckline and dress lenght were perfect. Maybe I didn't do the measurements correctly as you can see how much fabric I had in my hand. This particular style is super adorable but somehow not flattering on me at all. Therefore I returned it.

Verdict: Will I order from eShakti again? - Probably. I may give it another shot if only I can get the measurements correctly.

  5. Thanks for sharing that article... I'll definitely be more careful with geotagging, especially photos taken at home.

Too bad about the dress, I was really hoping that their "custom" sizing would turn out better. I forget, do they offer free returns if the sizing doesn't work out?

  6. hmmm...how does the ordering work, did you tell them your measurements? Seems strange that a custom dress would be so off!! Really pretty colour and dress otherwise though.

  7. Thank you for the article, Nelah. I just signed up for a Twitter account couple days ago. I just don't think I"m going to embark on it. I'm going to stay low-tech :).

That's really too bad about the dress. The measurements can be confusing as there're so many!

  8. Nelah, thanks for sharing the article. I was looking forward to this post but unfortunately, the dress doesn't fit you. I agree that it looks beautiful and seems like well made. You would think "custom made" will fit you like a glove right? I hope it'll work out for you next time

  10. Hi everyone: yes you should spread the words to as many friends as you can so more people are aware - we don't want to hear more tragic stories. Honestly, I don't think a lot of bloggers have a clue or care but we do what we can to get the words out. These criminals are so genius but it is such a shame for them to use their talent to harm others. You wouldn't have thought criminals or sexual predators are secretly monitoring your fashion/beauty blog among all of your fabulous female followers. They are smart enough to figure out where we live without us putting a physical address for them. It is no sci-fi movie here, the threats are much closer than we thought and when we least expect it in this hi-tech world. I am considering taking pictures at a park away from home or use my 5 year old camera (hope there is no geotag) for pics used on the blog from now. Better be safe and paranoid than sorry for me.

Sydney@PG: Scary, isn't it? No extra social networking for me. This blog thing has already taken a big chunk of my time. I am an addict!

Curls and Pearls: as to how the ordering work, there are drop down boxes for you to choose your measurements and submit with your order.

PetiteXXS: They do not offer free return, you send it back via usps priority mail but they will cover the differences if the cost of shipping is over $6.50. A custom fee of $7.50 is non refundable but that makes sense. I think this dress would look so cute on you.

I am not totally upset or anything and i honestly think others should give them a shot.

  11. Oh, that just sent shivers down my spine. I use my phone to take pictures, gulp. And I never intended for my blog to be a "personal" blog but will have a wary eye on giving out too much info.

Thanks for the review on eShakti, I thought I read somewhere that they will be willing to exchange clothing if it doesn't fit? I guess I was wrong. =0(

  12. Just turned geo-tagging off on my smart phone photos...thanks to you!

Hmm...that's a lot of fabric left on that dress. What a shame they couldn't get the sizing right. I think I'll stick to buying items and taking them to my tailor.

Thanks for venturing out and trying this company!

  13. Agreed...thanks to you I also just turned off geo tagging.

Wow, I'm surprised they allow returns on a custom dress! I'm glad though because it's quite big on you. Did you measure the dress when it arrived to see if it matched the measurements you sent them?

  16. Ordering online can be so tricky. I wouldn't get discouraged on this site just yet. I find that once you figure out what size you take at any given place, it's easier to order in the future. Brands usually stay pretty consistent across their line of clothing.

Also, be sure to check out my blog for a chance to win a pair of earrings! Hope to see you over there.

  17. I thought I'd just comment on this cause I happened to read the article you posted (thanks for it btw) and then read the rest of the post.

I do really like the dress... but I definitely wouldn't say I love it...

The color is so bright and beautiful but the fit is just not flattering.

Oh and Indian tailors (assuming that that's who stitched the dress) measure things a little differently than American tailors; may be that's why it's off?
