Have you ever bought something and used it once? I am pretty sure half of us do. I bought this "Bebe Silk Blouse" a while back when I attended a company's party. It was really a last minute find because I found it a day before the event! Since it was a night event, I thought something elegance would be nice. Its price was between $80 - 100, I couldn't remember exactly but it sure was the most I ever spent on one blouse. Then a month later, it went on sale!

The fitting was perfect, I purchased this blouse in XS. I paired it with a black pencil skirt.
Love those laces, beads and embroideries. No jewelry was necessary! It would look more like a sleeping gown without those details though, I thought.
This little purse was a steal..can you guess how much it was? $25 and brandnew! It was very tiny and gorgeous in person.

Never heard of this brand before but later found out it was Brazilian brand. Most of their shoes run from $150 and up but I got these heels for just $50.
That was the only occasion I wore it. Just couldn't think of any other place I can wear this to except for night functions. It is definitely too much for daytime wear, so I guess I'll have to wrap it up and keep it in my treasure chest or sell it.

That sure is an ornate blouse! I hate having to find things last-minute because there's a very real chance I won't be able to find anything that fits! And even if I do I'll probably have to pay full price which I hate to do unless I LOVE it and not because I need something like it at the last minute.
ReplyDeletenelah, ur bebe blouse is gorgeous! i just love all the detailing. maybe you could pair it with dark denim jeans for a more casual look at night? it's too pretty to be kept in storage hehe:) i'm with ya, i definitely have quite a few items that have only been worn once. wow, the purse and heels are great finds!

*sigh* there are some things that I have bought and never worn at all! And then I give them to goodwill..
ReplyDeleteI really like the top! You can definitely get some more wear out of it too. I'd love to see you wear it with a fitted, high waisted skirt and your hair up.. I can totally picture it on you and it'd look killer!
I wish I had an event to go to that I could get dressed up for.. but sadly I don't :(
I know many of us can related to this post. There are things in my closet with tags still on and I know I am not going to wear them. I am now careful with shopping habit and only buy things that I need. The top looks very pretty on you (definitely right for a night out).
ReplyDeleteLike the others wrote I have items in my closet that still have tags on them :(
ReplyDeleteI love that top - I agree it's great for night. Pair it with some dark jeans and go for a nice dinner and a movie :)
That top is amazing, though. I'm sure it looked great at your party. I agree with The Owl's Closet and Curls-and-Pearls...throw on some dark jeans and take it out!
ReplyDeleteThat's gorgeous. You look absolutely stunning in that outfit.
ReplyDeleteDo you think a simple cardigan might make it office-appropriate?
I think it would look great with some jeans too!
Thank you everyone for wonderful ideas. I didn't even think about pairing it with those pieces you mentioned. It seems like all of us do not fully utilize what we bought. For me personally, I have changed the way I shop this year. After throwing heaps of clothes away, I realized I needed to change. It was a major waste of money whether clothes, jewelry, home decor items or etc. I think longer and harder.
ReplyDeletePetiteXXS: yes the ornaments are quite heavy on that blouse but luckily not flashy nor reflective to night lights.. I was under dressed in the past, people really went all out and were glamorous so I went a bit more prepared last time.
Sophia: it is once a year event for me. I used to go to several more night events in the past when I could town up but those days were officially over. You should consider a closet clearance sale on your blog for those items you don't use.
The Owl's closet: that is a great idea. It would be appropriate for a fancy restaurant or a club which I don't go these days though :(
Minnja: thank you :)
PetiteLittleGirl & curls and Pearls: I am thinking about hosting a place for us to do online community closet clearance. Who is in? :) There may be potential buyers out there and if we do it in a big group, we may have more exposure to buyers. If anyone is interested, please shoot me an email.
Brittany: great idea if only I get an opportunity for a night out in town. Kinda rare these days for me.
Melissa: it will be too much for office wear because of the detailing around the neck and chest areas. I wish I could make more use out of it.
ReplyDeleteI love that top- its so pretty!! I love intricate details on blouses! I think it makes it that more feminine!!!
ReplyDeleteI am going thru my closet right now and am getting rid of a ton of stuff! Hehehe
FYI- I added you to my blogroll :)
Really Petite: thank you so much. I do not always comment but I do read your every post. You should do a closet clearance, I am sure people would like to buy.
ReplyDeleteWhat an incredible top! I can't believe it's Bebe, I think I associate Bebe with more trendy stuff but this top is definitely too versatile to be trendy.
