She is an average woman but she has a big heart...She has so much love to give...when she cries she hides her tears and fears, and pretend to be strong...She never gives up...
"She is a Mother".
Recently I came across a story of a female taxi driver in Bangkok who had to raise her young disabled child while on duty (this stories I read was dated back to 2009). You know she was a taxi driver so when I said she was on duty, it means she was on the road driving her cab. She had to tag long her (then a 3 year old) little disabled boy in a taxi. Her little boy had some sort of bone problems since birth so his body seemed disproportioned and could not walk normally.

As risky and dangerous as it may sound, she really couldn’t afford to find a caregiver thus a situation forced her to bring her little baby on the road with her since he was only 6 months old while working. Please don’t judge or blame her for risking her son's life by bringing him along and having him spent all day long in a vehicle. Like I said, she couldn't afford to pay a babysitter or a daycare.
In Thailand, car seats are no required by law and only certain group of population own vehicle (unlike the U.S. where almost everyone has his/her own vehicle. Vehicles are not something everyone can afford thus car seats are babies' luxurious gear) so you bet most children who ride in vehicles in Thailand are not buckled up in car seats (I know my husband was terrified when we brought our two years old with us in February and had to travel without a car seat but we all survived). In her case, she had to put her little boy in a passenger seat next to her so passengers could ride in the back.

Her husband (jerk!!) left her so she had to raise her son all by herself by driving a cab (I believe she only had her mom who was quite old herself and once again there is no such enforced "child support" law in Thailand to enforce fathers to help pay for a child). From everything I could see, I can tell that she is a very loving and caring mother who would do anything for her child. To make her situation sound worse, she was suffering from SLE (Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE): a chronic, inflammatory autoimmune disorder) which interfered her daily life activities.
This is just really sad how tough and cruel life can be for some people. I saw a brief video on Youtube showing how her day-to-day life in a cab with her son. As I watched the whole show, I could almost feel the love that this mother has for her child in every single word she said. You can also see the love in her eyes every time she looked at her son sleeping peacfully in a passenger seat. Her love was in her tender touch every time she touched that little boy. I felt that she wouldn’t give up no matter what happen.
There is also another extraordinary and very inspirational mother whom you may want to read {here}

That is mother’s love – an unconditional love
It is the kind of love that you can give up your own life just to save another precious life. It is the kind of love that you only want to give and do everything and anything.
One of the greatest things I have become to realize as a mother is....
Motherhood gives women the kind of "strength" she never thought she has – physically.and emotionally.
If you are a mother, you know that is a very true statement. A woman may suffer the loss of her husband from an affair, an accident, a sudden death or anything - but one thing she will never give up is her “strength”.
To all mothers out there including my own mother, you are strong...you are beautiful...you are extraordinary...you are loved.
Cheers.....~**

Omg'd I want to cry! There is nothing like a mother's love. There is nothing that she wouldn't do for her child. Her story is so touching. Thanks for sharing this story Nelah, and I didn't know car seats were not enforced in Thailand. Wow! Lupus is such a debilitating disease. I applaud her STRENGTH! ((HUG))

That is a really sweet and touching story Nelah. I think mothers are such amazing women! (I hope to be one soon!) Thanks for sharing her story!
ReplyDeleteNelah you always write such lovely posts, they always end with me a little teary and wanting to cuddle my mother. A mothers love is so amazing and strong, i really admire all mothers and hope one day i'll be as good as a mother as my own mummy :) Hope you are well my dear. xX (nice song by the way, suits the mood of this post very well).
ReplyDeleteHi Nelah, I read this post at work yesterday and had to push back the tears. There is no reason for us to judge. The love for our child makes us do what we need to do, even if others believe that it is wrong. And, I don't know if you heard, but little Charmaine has left us. I almost cried when I read it on Jo's blog :(
ReplyDeleteHi Nelah,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your condolences on Charmaine's passing and I'm surprised to see a little link here on Cyn mommy's love for her children.
It's always inspirational to read about a mother's love. I haven't clicked on the link about this amazing mummy who brings her little child as she drives around in her cab. I'm not too sure if I'm emotionally stable now. I wish to think I am ok and at peace now but I think it's better that I avoid any soppy stories for now.
I'm catching up on whatever I've missed since before my HK trip. You really update almost every day!
